Lisa Olivia Munn grew up in Oklahoma City. Kimberly Schmid was born in Vietnam and is of Chinese roots, but her father Winston Barrett Munn comes from an American family. Olivia's parents separated at age two. Her family consisted of her mother who was with the United States Air Force, as well as her stepfather. The family left Oklahoma and moved to several places, but she spent most of her life in Tokyo. It was where she appeared in theatre productions during this period as well as becoming a actress for Japanese business. Olivia moved from her home in the United States back to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of being an actor. She started her acting career with a small character. Then, her career took off when she was cast in the role of Mily Acuna in the Hawaii-lensed television show Beyond the Break (2006). In 2007 she portrayed Rob Schneider's receptionist.
