Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At 27 years old when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. Apart from his performance in the drama series The Killing, he also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He also played the lead role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was Russia's president on the American television series House of Cards. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his performance as the president in Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in 2019. He claims that his brother and he first learned English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches of comedy.
